Miami Fishing Guide
Flats Fishing Biscayne Bay - Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon & Snook

My wife, Debbie, with a 34 pound permit.Let AWOL be your Miami Fishing Guide to the crystal clear waters of Miami's Biscayne Bay, where Miami meets the Florida Keys. Although Miami is one of the biggest cities in the country, it still boasts one of the finest fisheries anywhere. The shallows of Biscayne Bay hold bonefish, permit, snook and giant tarpon, as well as several other species, and can be a spectacular fishery year round.

We depart from Crandon Marina on Key Biscayne, just east of downtown Miami. Depending on the time of the year and where the fish are, I fish anywhere from Government Cut to Key Largo.  The crystal clear waters of the Bay make sight fishing a hunt like no other. There is something about being able to watch a fish eat your bait or fly and hooking it yourself.

Another specialty is the use of light tackle. I use 8, 12 and 20 lb conventional tackle and 8 - 12 wt. fly tackle depending on the targeted species. I will supply the bait and or flies.

If big time sport fishing doesn't float your boat, there are other species to go bend a rod on. Shark fishing is tops on that list. During the winter months, sharks provide lots of excitement as they move into the shallows. Out on the flats you will also see several species of fish including spotted eagle rays, stingrays and barracuda.
