Everybody?s happy.
With the warmer than usual weather the fishing has remained good. Now that January has passed the fishing will get better. The day time tarpon fishing will be great. This is when the big lunkers are at their best. Break out the fly rods and the polarized glasses and be prepared to watch them eat. Sight fishing to big tarpon is as good as it gets. The night bite will be great as well. So any free time you can muster up you should go.
Last Thursday night Doug, Bill and little Billy Fash had a good night of fishing in Fort Lauderdale. They hooked four tarpon and got one to the boat. Fishing with live mullet we had lots of bites and the mullet were jumping out of there skins almost the whole night.
Fri afternoon the weather was questionable, but we managed to dodge a few storms and get some shots at tarpon with the fly rod. We saw the fish but couldn?t get the bite.
Sat it rained all day and we canceled.
Sunday afternoon turned out to be beautiful and Peter Lopoukhine and his wife Natasha saw lots of big tarpon in Miami. Peter caught one that was every bit of 125 lbs.
Sunday night Jim Deiner fished in Fort Lauderdale and had good and bad luck. The good luck was that the tarpon were biting. The bad luck was he couldn?t keep any on. We did have three to the boat before they pulled the hook. Overall he was 0 for 6 and missed a couple bites. Those fish were in the 30 to 50 lb range and are the scrappiest tarpon I know of.
South Florida inshore fishing will be great in the months to come so get out and get in on the action.
