Summer fishing has been great so far. Lots of tarpon and the bones and permit are doing their thing too. We?ve had a dry, hot, sunny summer so far, which is just what the fish and sight fisherman love. It doesn?t look like we are going to get a break any time soon. I can?t complain.
Ed Whitehouse did a good job of nearly getting the Biscayne Bay Grand Slam. He started off the day by going 1 for 2 on tarpon. Then it was off to the permit spots. We saw quit a few and got one to eat. It was about a 15 lber. On the first of the outgoing tide we stopped at a bonefish spot. They were there. We got one on. Bad luck ensued at the end of a 75 yard run the hook came out. That was a bad time for that to happen. We had a few more shots but no luck.

That's a 60 lber.

Jack Murray and friend Mark Scanlan were just a little luckier. They started out the day by going 1 for 2 on tarpon. Mark hooked into a feisty 50 or so pounder. It about wore us out. The one we lost was more like a 100 pounder. While tarpon fishing in a likely spot to see a permit, a permit happened to swim by the boat and I think it weighted about 15#. Jack caught the only jumping permit I?ve ever seen. The bonefish spot turned out to be productive as well. Jack landed a nice 5 lber. Nice jobs on the slam boys. Way to angle.

Pretty work Jack

I have been seeing a lot of fish since the middle of May. I don?t see much change in this weather pattern in the near future. We need the rain though. With good tides coming up in July it?s time to do the permit thing.
